Bellwork is pleased to offer an edition of math exercises that extends the reach of this powerful program series to include Algebra I.
Each problem serves as an assessment tool, allowing teachers to determine exactly where an individual student or an entire class needs more instruction or extra practice.
The problems are intended to be completed by students during the first five to eight minutes of class as a warm-up for the students.
To encourage students to work neatly and with structure when performing calculations,
some problems have workspaces that include ruled lines. Those problems (order
of operations, solving equations, etc.) require organization and clarity, both
during the work process and later, when students try to remember how they got
their answers. Students are instructed to work out each problem step-by-step
and justify their process. This method allows them to focus on their work and
helps to communicate and retrace their steps.
The Teacher’s Guide provides more than just answers. Next to every question is a list of the skill(s) and Algebra I standards covered. A cross-referenced list is at the back of the book to give teachers the flexibility to find the problems that cover specific skills. There is also a teacher resource section which includes: a glossary, divisibility rules, measurement system conversions and common measurement abbreviations, and a list of helpful prefixes.
A digital/CD version of the student edition is also available in a single user license or a site license. It is cost-effective and a convenient way to project our student pages onto an interactive whiteboard or other flat panel display.
