The Write on Target!™ program incorporates the skills and strategies that students need to practice in order to write to the tasks presented.
The genre sections in each student book contain: a beginning and ending activity to show your students’ writing progress, a rubric to guide your students in their writing, scored and unscored student sample essays for assessment, and weekly writing tasks. Depending on the level, the tasks will cover writing a narrative, descriptive essay, summary, letter, response to literature, persuasive essay or letter, and research reports.
The teacher’s guide provides you with a guideline of how to best utilize this program to improve your students’ academic achievement in their writing abilities. The genre sections in each teacher’s guide include: a beginning and ending activity to show your students’ writing progress, a rubric and lesson on how to use and understand the rubric, scored and unscored student sample essays with added commentary, and teacher-directed lessons that incorporate the skills and strategies that students need to practice in order to write to the tasks presented. Depending on the level, the writing lessons will cover prewriting skills, organization and focus, writing forms and styles, and revisions. A list of the writing lessons and corresponding content standard(s) is provided in the front of the teacher’s guide.
The Write on Target!™ program is aligned and correlated to California’s Writing content standards with many articles relating to the History–Social Science standards.
